A typical day in the life of Julia from Spain:

8.45 Breakfast and starting the day

9.30 My classes: today we are studying vocabulary for the afternoon trip Natural History Museum

12.30 Lunch: social English in a casual situation really helps me improve my confidence and fluency

14.00 Afternoon activity: a trip to the Natural History Museum gallery in London.

18.30 Homework: I am working on my project – a tourist guide in English for my home town

19.30 Dinner: traditional Fish and Chips supper – it’s fun to share recipes and ideas (and great English practice!)

20.30 Evening: relaxing with the family in front of a good movie!

All Young Learners get our Meet and Greet transfer service, being met at their arrival airport by their host tutor or our professional driver and taken to their home in safety and convenience.

The safety and security of our Young Learners is always our top priority.

Students don’t have to worry about anything: we confirm all details in advance, so students know exactly who will be waiting to collect them, and we are always available on our 24-hour number if there are any problems.

We only work with the best tutors. We personally interview them and inspect their accommodation, before they join our team. They have a recognised qualification to teach English as a foreign language and in most cases a honours degree and experience in both teaching and hosting.

Our teachers are dedicated and professional. They are chosen not only for their experience and qualifications but for their warmth and hospitality and the comfort of their homes. We believe there are four basic ingredients which make a successful host tutor:

1. An enthusiasm for teaching English

2. A professional qualification in teaching (CELTA, Cert. TESOL or equivalent. PGCE MFL, English or Primary with QTS. Equivalent teaching qualification in your country)

3. An empathetic personality

4. A comfortable and hospitable home

All host tutors who host Young Learners are also DBS / Police checked according to our Safeguarding Policy.

All Young Learner courses include three accompanied afternoon activities per week (Monday – Friday), with a full-day excursion at the weekend for courses longer than one week.

Your host tutor will discuss what activity and excursion options you have during the first day of your course, so that you can plan out what you will do and when. The cost of activities and excursions is covered in your course fee, but if there is something in particular you would like to do or somewhere in particular you would like to go during your course, please let us know in advance, as there may be an additional charge.

On the afternoons when you don’t have an activity or excursion scheduled, your host tutor may allow you independent free time to spend in the local area. It is important that you respect their house rules regarding where you can and can’t go, and when you must be home by.

Don’t worry – we always make sure that you are never left to get bored!

At the end of each course, host tutors prepare an End of Course Report which tells students what they have studied, how much they have improved, and what they need to do to continue improving their English. Students also receive a certificate of attendance via email shortly after their course finishes.

We have a number of host tutors with a wealth of experience and training in teaching students with special learning needs like dyslexia and audio processing.
