InTuition Languages has partnered with Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) [link]to deliver a high-impact language immersion programme designed for medical professionals undertaking a short-term placement in the UK.
This experience combines a medical observership at MFT and homestay accommodation with 1:1 English language tuition from a qualified, experienced InTuition teacher — helping you gain fluency fast and maximise the value of your overseas experience.
Clinical Observership
Observerships at MFT offer international clinicians and healthcare professionals structured, short-term placements designed to provide a clear understanding of NHS systems and complex care. Observers benefit from consultant oversight, a defined induction, and tailored learning objectives within a supportive framework.
These placements focus on shadowing, giving you sustained access to specialist teams. You’ll follow patient pathways, observe multidisciplinary collaboration, and gain valuable insight into the advanced care delivered across our hospitals. Optional enhancements such as simulation days, short courses, and CPD sessions are available to enrich your experience.
Duration
The observerships immerse you in the clinical environment for a deeper understanding of the NHS and complex care. Lasting 4–12 weeks, they provide access to specialist teams - allowing you to follow patient pathways, witness multidisciplinary collaboration, and build valuable professional connections.
Eligibility
Demand for MFT observerships is exceptionally high, and applications are welcomed from exceptional candidates who can demonstrate meeting the following criteria.
Visa: Applicants must hold valid permission to enter and remain in the UK for the duration of the observership, such as an ETA, Visitor Visa, Work Visa, or PLAB Visa. More information on UK visas and immigration is available here.
MFT offers observerships across a range of specialties, including Adult, Paediatric and at the specialist areas of Genomics, Women’s Health and Eye Health, each designed to ensure clarity, consistency, and a positive candidate experience. Prices for the medical observership alone are: £850 for the first week and £300 per week thereafter. This gives you ultimate flexibility for determining how long you'd like to spend within MFT.
Homestay + Private Tuition
You'll live with your personal tutor in a welcoming, comfortable home environment. All lessons are delivered one-to-one and tailored to your personal needs and objectives — helping you build your confidence in English for both professional and private purposes.
You can book InTuition homestay + private tuition for the duration of your observership at MFT, or for just part of it - it is entirely up to you.
