Homestay Tutors in New York Area, USA

Home/Location, New York Area

A detached home in beautiful suburb 5 miles from the George Washington Bridge. Home has 11 rooms with formal dining room as well as breakfast room off kitchen. The ground floor is Living room, formal dining room, kitchen with breakfast room, office, and guest room + bathroom. Owners/family have bedrooms and bathroom on 1st floor so student and family have compete privacy as needed. Student would have access to Mac and PC computer in office. There is a very large garden, and the area is suitable for taking walks. The town has a Starbucks and many boutiques and restaurants, however proximity to New York City is easily accessed by bus. The neighborhood is safe and residential. We also have access to an a-season club for activities such as swimming, ice-skating, tennis, paddle, and very easy access to all New York City cultural activities.

Student Room

Student would have private twin guest room and very large closet, with desk and chest of drawers. They have the facility to offer private bathroom facilities if requested.

They have a dog

Smoking:


The family do not smoke, and do not accept smokers.

Home/location, Long Island

The teacher's home is a high ranch home located in the hamlet of Wheatley Heights, with 4 bedrooms. Each room has its own television, cable access and computer access via an in home WIFI.

Wheatley Heights is a small suburb on Long Island and is accessible to all the island has to offer (beaches, parks gardens, museums, world class universities, and the world famous Atlantis Aquarium) with easy access to New York City. Additionally, Wheatley Heights, a residential community is known for its spacious and beautiful landscape, wide ranch homes and a crime free neighborhood.

The Long Island Railroad station is but 5 minutes away with its hub, the world renowned Penn Station / Madison Sq. Gardens situated only a few blocks from Times Square. Most Long Islanders work in Manhattan and commute easily to and from the city via "The railroad". Passengers either walk or take the subway to their final city destination. Manhattan is about 50 minutes by train.

A stay in my home will enrich the experience of each student we host and will leave satisfied that they have truly lived the life of every day New Yorkers who revel in the hustle and bustle of Manhattan only to return to a rich and fulfilling existence on Long Island. Our garden is massive and a place to be enjoyed, Vegetables and flowers flourish in their respective beds while providing a cascade of color and aesthetics. Dinner in patio area of our garden is a regular occurrence. The Tanger Outlet Mall is only 10 minutes away and provide the shopaholic with the best designer garbs for cheap.

Student Room

The student's room is located on its own level. It is newly constructed with French doors, huge windows that open onto the front garden and she has the facility to offer students their own private bathroom if they take the Prestige Option. There is a full size bed, a cherry wood chest of drawer, cable television, a VCR used for lessons, hi hats in the ceilings of both bathroom and bedroom and plenty of closet space.

They have no pets

Smoking:
The family do not smoke, and smoking is tolerated outdoors only.

Patricia is an experienced teacher of English gained in group and one-to-one classes. She has taught many different nationalities and is also experienced in training business executives. She has the Cambridge Certificate.

Home/location

They live in "The Palisades", a wealthy suburb of Los Angeles. They live in a comfortable home which has just been remodelled.

Student's room

A tastefully decorated room with private bathroom facilities.

Family/interests

They are interested in jogging, biking, playing tennis, gardening, cultural activities and going to the movies. They also like gardening. They have a son and a daughter who are away at College.

Pets

They have none.

Smoking

Theirs is a non smoking household.

Mallory and George are BOTH ESL certified teachers! Between the two of them they have many years of teaching experience. Both work teaching English part time in the local University. However, during school vacations, they are available to host and teach. They have been involved in the teacher's homestay program for several yearsand have received consistently high marks.

Her husband has his BA in Graphic Arts, and graduated from Eastern Washington University. She homeschools her own two children.

He has his BA in Cross Cultural Studies and has worked with many diverse populations over the years, in may different capacities.

Kim and John have a wealth of experience. John went to Columbia College and Yale Law School. After a long career as a trial lawyer, he is currently retired, getting his Masters Degree in Italian at SF State. Kim attended Smith College and NYU Stern School of Business, plus received her teaching credentials. She has taught ESL for several years and many clients have been happily placed with this family.
